Menstrual Irregularities
A common complaint Dr. Hall hears is irregular and heavy periods. Complaints about frequent periods are more common than extended time between periods, unless the client is trying to get pregnant. Either way, an imbalance in your hormones, estrogen, progesterone and/or others, is a likely cause.
Estrogen causes the lining of the uterus to proliferate. Progesterone stabilizes the lining. If you are not making enough progesterone, the lining will proliferate but not be stabilized causing it to slough early, and commonly the bleeding is heavy. Finding then correcting the imbalance(s) is the best way to deal with this complaint.
When faced with a complaint of menstrual irregularities, doctors commonly prescribe hormonal contraceptives (the pill, Depo shot, IUD, etc.) which only disrupt hormone balance even further, and carry risks like stroke, blood clots, and even cancer. Dr. Hall will work with your body to create balance, instead of creating new imbalances with synthetic hormones.
